Just Us Girls #215 - Color

Welcome to this week's Just Us Girls Challenge

Marisa has chosen a beautiful color combo for us this week - Red, White, Kraft & Brown.

Here is my card

This was a fun card to make.  I had just gotten a new shipment from Gina K. Designs with this gorgeous ornament and frame.  I stamped the frame and the ornament with white pigment ink and embossed with Rangers Holographic embossing powder onto  Red Hot cardstock.  It's very hard to see the sparkle in the photo, but it's there.  I used Spellbinders Standard Circles & Exquisite Circles for the focal image and the Kraft layering piece.  I tied a piece of  Red Hot ribbon to a piece of  Warm Cocoa cardstock and attached to a Kraft card base.  The focal image was attached with 1/4" pop dots.  My inspiration came from Gina and a gorgeous card she made over at StampTV using this stamp set and another lovely color combo.  Here's the link, if you would like to see http://stamptv.ning.com/video/season-s-greetings-stamptv-kit-and-card-project

This next card is what happened when I tried to be a smarty pants and work several challenges ahead.......someone changed the colors.  lol  I thought I would post it anyway.

I bought this fun stamp set at Avery Elle called Merry & Bright.  I decided I wanted a white ornament with gold lettering.  I embossed the ornament with Zing! gold glitter finish embossing powder.  I, also, used the same embossing powder on the ornament hanger and the paper peeking around the edges of the red cardstock.  Here's a little trick I learned at StampTV the other day.  Glitter paper is kind of pricey especially when all you will see is a tiny strip around the edges.  Cut your cardstock to the desired size and ink the edges with VersaMark, apply the embossing powder and heat set.  You are only going to see the edges, and now it perfectly matches the embossing on the card front.  I used a Cuttlebug folder called Geometric Rings on a piece of GKD Red Hot cardstock and added Recollections white pearl centers.  The gold bow is from Hobby Lobby.

Now to clean up all that evil glitter because it gets everywhere, use a Swiffer dry sweeping cloth.  It works really well.

I hope you will stop over at Just Us Girls and see what the rest of the team and our guest designer, Nancy Penir, have created this week.  Come join in on the fun.....hope to see you there!

Just a reminder that Just Us Girls will be continuing the Guest Designer position.  Winning  Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the GD spot.  At the end of the month, after we have all of our Chic's of the weeks for that month, the JUGS girls will decide who the Guest Designer will be. The Chic picked from the November challenges will be joining the team as our Guest Designer for the month of January.
