Just Us Girls #223 - Technique

Welcome to this week's Just Us Girls Challenge

This week is all about paper piecing.   I have to tell you, that I love paper piecing!  I spent many hours, when I was younger, cutting out and playing with paper dolls.  Paper piecing reminds me of those happy days!  If you have never paper pieced before, I am adding a link to a video at Gina K. Designs to help get you started.  I hope you will enjoy this fun technique.

Here's my card

The stamp set I used is from Gina K. Designs and is called Skater Diva.  She is one of many in the Darling Diva line illustrated by Debbie Corbari.   I paper pieced her jacket, skirt, mittens, scarf, socks and ear muffs with patterned paper from BoBunny's Hello Sunshine Collection.  I colored her tights with copic markers.  I used the Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder for my background and Spellbinders 2012 Snowflake Pendant dies for the snowflakes.  I used a Spellbinders standard circle die that I sponged with GKD Ocean Mist ink for my focal image.  I added some sparkle to the ice with Crystal Stickles.  The card stock is GKD Pure Luxury White, Turquoise Sea and Sweet Mango.

Here's the newest of Debbie Corbari's Divas.  This one is called Celebration Diva.  Isn't she the cutest little party girl!  I paper pieced her dress with a fun patterned paper from Paper Pizazz called Yellow Swirls on Blue.  I highlighted the swirls with a gold Sakura glitter pen.  The background was stamped with a set from Hero Arts called All The Time using GKD Prickly Pear ink.  I used Gina K. Designs Ivory & Blue Raspberry card stock, and the ribbon and bow is from Offray.  I used Spellbinders Classic Ovals & Scalloped Ovals dies.

This is Serenity Diva.  Haven't we all felt like this at one time or another?  I know I have!  I made this card a while ago, but wanted to share it because I love the colors and, of course, that great sentiment.  I paper pieced her yoga outfit with Gina K. Designs Poppy Prints patterned paper.  I, also, used it to back the focal image and the background.  The card stock is Gina K. Designs Red Hot, Sweet Corn and Ivory.  I used the Wonky Rectangle dies from Spellbinder.

I hope you will stop by Just Us Girls to see what the rest of the team and Geri, our guest designer,  have created using paper piecing.  We would love to see your take on this fun technique.

Winning  Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the GD spot.  The Chic picked from the January challenges will be invited to join the team as our Guest Designer for the month of March.
