Mod Squad - It's My Favorite

This time at the Mod Squad the challenge is It's My Favorite.  I had to give this some thought because I love so many things in this craft, but if I have to choose I would say to make my own background. At this point in time, my favorite kind of background to make is with a stencil and embossing paste.

Here's my card

I recently bought this beautiful stencil from Tim Holtz called Holiday Knit.  I love this stencil and I'm excited about all of the winter themed cards that will work with it.  I use Dap Lightweight Spackle as my embossing paste.  It's light, fluffy and snowy white, and it works well with reinkers to make it any color you need.  I used GKD Red Hot on this card.  I discovered that like making icing for a cake it is very hard to get a true red.  The color is lighter than I would have liked it to be, but I can live with it. It doesn't clash with the vest, so I'm a happy camper!  The stamp set is from Simon Says and is called Ugly Sweater.  I'm not sure I agree with the ugly part.  Who hasn't at one time or other had one of these sweaters?  I know I had some when my kids were little.  Thanks so much for coming by to look!

The Recipe:

Simon Says Ugly Sweater & Sweater Words & Appliques
Tim Holtz Holiday Knit Stencil
GKD Pure Luxury White, Black Onyx & Kraft CS
Doodlebug Green Sprinkles

I'm, also, linking this with the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.

  8. I was waiting to see what you would do with this stamp. I remember you saying that you had purchased it. So much fun, and you did an excellent job with the BG. Love the color and you are right, it does not clash. We always had an ugly sweater day when I was working. We all had one, your right.
