Mod Squad - It's My Favorite

This time at the Mod Squad the challenge is It's My Favorite.  I had to give this some thought because I love so many things in this craft, but if I have to choose I would say to make my own background. At this point in time, my favorite kind of background to make is with a stencil and embossing paste.

Here's my card

I recently bought this beautiful stencil from Tim Holtz called Holiday Knit.  I love this stencil and I'm excited about all of the winter themed cards that will work with it.  I use Dap Lightweight Spackle as my embossing paste.  It's light, fluffy and snowy white, and it works well with reinkers to make it any color you need.  I used GKD Red Hot on this card.  I discovered that like making icing for a cake it is very hard to get a true red.  The color is lighter than I would have liked it to be, but I can live with it. It doesn't clash with the vest, so I'm a happy camper!  The stamp set is from Simon Says and is called Ugly Sweater.  I'm not sure I agree with the ugly part.  Who hasn't at one time or other had one of these sweaters?  I know I had some when my kids were little.  Thanks so much for coming by to look!

  1. Love the background so beautiful! Even love the ugly sweaters! I'm sure we all had one at one time or another! Have a Blessed day!

  2. Oh, I think the red is fine. And I absolutely LOVE that stencil - so many possibilities. It's perfect for winter cards. You did an excellent job with the embossing paste. Great sweaters too, this is such a cute card! Well done, thanks for joining us this week on the Mod Squad!

  3. This is so cute. That stenciled background is perfect for the sweaters.

  4. Love that background and those sweaters and sentiment.... Made me laugh! Great job!

  5. This is awesome! That stencil with the spackle looks amazing, reminds me something my Grandmother would knit (that's a compliment) Every year at this time everyone panics looking for an ugly sweater for that festive party, The Ugly Sweater Party! lol Well done!

  6. Background is beautiful. Love the ugly sweater sentiment but the sweaters are too cute

  7. Fantastic card Sharyn. Love your embossing and the sentiment is a perfect match.

  8. I was waiting to see what you would do with this stamp. I remember you saying that you had purchased it. So much fun, and you did an excellent job with the BG. Love the color and you are right, it does not clash. We always had an ugly sweater day when I was working. We all had one, your right.

Thank you for your kind comments. I always appreciate hearing from you.
