Just Us Girls #267 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week.  Sharyn, here,  I am your hostess, and the colors I have chosen are Red, Turquoise and Gold or yellow.  You can, also, use neutrals such as, white, black, kraft,  ivory, brown or gray.

Here's my card

When I was young, my parents,  my brother and I used to go ice skating.  We used to go to a place in Indianapolis called Lake Sullivan.  In the Winter, after the lake froze,  it was transformed into a beautiful ice skating rink.  There were hills for sledding too.  We had a slide-in camper that fit in the back of my dad's truck that we took with us.  It was a warm place to get out of the cold, and we were able to make hot chocolate......such good memories!

The stamp set I used is called On Ice and is available at Papertrey Ink.  The background stencil is from Tim Holtz and is called Holiday Knit.  I saw it a few weeks ago on a Kristina Werner video, and thought it was so cute.  It was perfect for my Winter themed card.  I used Dap Lightweight Spackle and some GKD turquoise sea ink to create my background.  I used some black embroidery thread to lace the skates and added some pom poms.  The sentiment was embossed with gold embossing powder on Vellum.  Thanks for coming by to look!

The Recipe:

PTI On Ice
Tim Holtz Holiday Knit Stencil
Dap Lightweight Spackle
GKD Turquoise Sea ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
GKD Fine Detail Gold embossing powder
Recollections Gold Foil paper
GKD Pure Luxury White & Red Velvet CS

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our GD, Tajanna, have created using our challenge colors.  I can't wait to see how you are inspired!

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our November challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of January.  Good luck!

I need to go raid my Hubby;s tool box for some of that Dap Spackle....shhhh....your background looks like a nice warm winter sweater! We have the same ice skating memories, sans the camper....isn't that great? Wonderful card, as always, Sharyn!

  9. This is so pretty. I love the stenciled background and the skates. The pom poms remind me of the ones we had on our roller skates. Are you still in that area? I think I know where you skated back then. It is some sort of sports complex now, if that's where I think it is.

    1. We do still live the area. I haven't been to the lake in years, so not sure what is there. I need to check into it and see.

  10. Absolutely fabulous card Sharyn! Love those skates and that gorgeous knit stencil! We used to skate with our boots we didn't have ice skates and our parents couldn't get us to go in the house . I'm sure you did the same thing , not like some of the kids these days! Have a Blessed day!

  11. What a wonderful and amazing choice of colors to work with. I absolutely love the card that you made as your example. Wonderful memories too. We had to walk 5 blocks to skate at the neighborhood ice rink. I could never tie my skates tight enough to skate, so I put them on at home and walked in the snow there. What fun memories. Interesting challenge too. Lol
