MFT - Superstar Card Contest

What a fun contest!  It certainly got my juices flowing.  I am entering this card in the My Favorite Things Superstar Card Contest.

I have a friend who could use a little cheering up and thought this sweet card would do the trick.

Card Design Superstar Guidelines

I was looking through my MFT stamps and these two sets fell out together.  I think it must be a sign! lol  The sentiment "Fabulous is a frame of mind." and the Geek is Chic glasses die.  What can I say? It just makes me happy.  The background is another beautiful set called Garden Flourish Background. I cut five pairs of glasses with the die and then inked them with an Ombre Pink to Red ink pad.  They were then glued together and coated with Glossy Accents.  I added a couple of rhinestones and some cute googly eyes.  They are girly eyes because they have a little bit of an eyelid and some lashes. Thanks so much for coming by to look!

The Recipe:

MFT Tickled Pink - sentiment and Garden Flourish Background
Ombre ink - Red to Pink & Butter to Orange
Googly eyes - Walmart

Just Us Girls #263 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week, and Lisa has picked a really fun color combo for us, Purple, Olive and Navy.  Here is how I was inspired!

I watched a video of Jennifer McGuire's on No Mess Glitter Die Cuts and fell in love with this die set from My Favorite Things called Geek is Chic.  I didn't add glitter to mine because I didn't have the double sided tape that she used, but here is what I did.  I first cut one pair of glasses out of white card stock.  I inked the bottom half of the glasses with navy ink and the top with purple ink.  I then cut four pairs of glasses from navy and purple card stock and glued them together.  I glued the inked pair to the top and then coated it with Glossy Accents.  After it dried, I applied another coat of Glossy Accents. These glasses are so stinking cute and shiny.  You would never know they were made of paper.  I just realized as I'm writing this post that while the green is supposed to be olive, I had in my mind lime, so my green is a little on the light side.  I black embossed the sentiment onto Vellum.

The Recipe:
