Just Us Girls #213 - Sketch

Welcome to this week's Just Us Girls Challenge

Sharyn here with a great sketch challenge for you.  Don't you just love sketches?  I do!  They do half of the work for you, anyway, I hope you have as much fun with this one as I did.

Here's my card

I am into Christmas mode right now trying to get my cards done, so I won't be doing them at the last minute......not fun!  Everything seems to get so hectic by the time Thanksgiving gets here.

I started by cutting the red strips.  I used BoBunny Double Dot patterned paper and cut them 1" x 4".  It took me a couple of tries to get it right, so I'm passing on the measurements.  I used a stamp set from Gina K. Designs called Mistletoe Memories.  I love this set and the fun images.  I used the script stamp on the white panel using GKD Kraft ink.  The mistletoes were stamped using GKD Fresh Asparagus & Cherry Red inks.  I cut my pieces out using Spellbinders Standard Circles, Stately Circles and Long Classic Rectangles Large dies.  One circle was sponged with Cherry Red, one with Fresh Asparagus & the greeting was stamped with Fresh Asparagus ink.  I added some Recollections pearls.

Here's a second card using the same sketch

This time instead of cutting five strips, I stamped five lines of music.   I used PTI's Background basic Sheet Music.  I embossed a piece of GKD black onyx cardstock with Cuttlebug Musical Flourishes and cut it into a banner.  I used a Gina K. Designs stamp set called Poster Board Christmas for my focal image and stamped it using GKD black onyx, prickly pear & faded brick inks.  I used Spellbinders Standard Circles & Scalloped Circles to cut my pieces.  The two smaller circles I embossed using Cuttlebug Swiss Dot.  I used 1/4" pop dots on the focal image and one of the small circles.  I added a black & white gingham bow.

I hope you will check out the Just Us Girls blog to see what the other very talented ladies have come up with this week.  Come join us!  We would love to see what you create.

Just a reminder that Just Us Girls is starting up the Guest Designer position once again!!  Winning  Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the GD spot.  At the end of the month, after we have all of our Chic's of the weeks for that month, the JUGS girls will decide who the Guest Designer will be for the following month!

  9. Sharyn, this is a great sketch! Both of your cards are fantastic. Love how you stamped the music for the strips on the second one, giving options for the background strips.
