Welcome to this week's Just Us Girls Challenge
Nancy has chosen a fun challenge for us this week, to make a one layer Winter card. One layer cards are a challenge for me. I'm a layering kind of gal, but we'll give it a go.
Here's my card
I bought a really fun stencil over at Simon Says Stamps called Falling Snow. I knew I had to use it for this challenge. Isn't that fun! I used a Gina K. Designs stamp set called Sentimental Holiday for the trees. They were stamped using GKD Blue Raspberry, Passionate Pink & Prickly Pear inks. The greeting is from GKD Season's Greetings stamp set. The star on the tree top is GKD City of David. Now to the fun stuff......the snow! They tell you to use embossing paste to make the snow. The ones I found were all out of stock and kind of pricey for no more than you would get. I went to Pinterest......my very favorite place for information and found out how to make my own. I was so surprised to learn that you use DAP Fast'N Final Lightweight Spackling. I bought it at Walmart in the paint department. When I opened the container, I found that it was snowy white.....perfect for my snow! You can add ground up chalk to make it any color you need. I'm adding a link to the website, if this is something you might be interested in trying.
Please visit us at Just Us Girls to see what the other talented ladies have created this week. We have a Guest Designer this month, Nancy Penir. You'll want to check out her gorgeous card too!
Just a reminder that Just Us Girls will be continuing the Guest Designer position. Winning Chic of the Week puts you in the running for the GD spot. At the end of the month, after we have all of our Chic's of the weeks for that month, the JUGS girls will decide who the Guest Designer will be. The Chic picked from the November challenges will be joining the team as our Guest Designer for the month of January.
