Tis the Season - Making Christmas Cards

It's that time again!  I always say I'm going to start Christmas cards early and every year I find myself in the same place.  It's November and I haven't even started.  The inspiration for this card came from Silke Ledlow.  You will have to scroll down her page to "Inspired by the Little Things #31 challenge" to see her gorgeous card.

I didn't want to copy everything piece by piece, so changed the colors and used a fun set by Claire Brennan called Festive Foliage instead of the poinsettias.  I mass produced this one and made 20 cards.  It was quite an undertaking since the Festive Foliage set doesn't come with dies.  I ended up with 140 pieces that had to be fussy cut.  I'm very pleased with the outcome.  If  I could change anything, I might gold emboss the music instead of the ink I used.  What do you think?

Just Us Girls #248 - The Word is Bird

You will notice some changes in the challenges over at Just Us Girls today.  We are trying to give a couple of our challenges a fresh, new look, so instead of the our usual Sketch Challenge for the first week of the month, we have changed it to a Word Challenge.  This time the Word is Bird!  Maria is hosting this week, and I know she is fond of owls, so my bird choice is an owl.  We, also, have a new Guest Designer for the month of July, Rebekka Reed.  Welcome, Rebekka!

This cute little owl is from Gina K. Designs and is called Birthday Hoot. He is a cute little guy standing there with his party hat on and holding some balloons.  He has coordinating patterned paper that makes him extra special.
