Just Us Girls #261 - Word Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Word Week!  Hi, Sharyn here, and I have chosen Celebrate as my word this week.  So, use your imagination and show us all the ways that you celebrate!

Guess what today is?  It's World Card Making Day!  How great is it that our Word Challenge - Celebrate would fall on this day!  So, everyone get out there and make a card today.

I would, also, like to welcome our Guest Designer, Wanda Cullen, for the month of October. Welcome, Wanda!  Ina and Chris will be posting their first cards with us today too!  Be sure to stop by their blogs and leave a little love.  Welcome, girls!

Here's my card

I love the bunny stamps at The Cat's Pajamas!  This one is called One Cupccake.  Isn't he a cutie!  I paired it with some fun patterned paper called Hootenanny by My Mind's Eye.  I really like the paper with the cupcakes on it, but then I covered most of it up with the focal image.  lol

The Recipe:

MME Hootenanny patterned paper
Verve ribbon

Just Us Girls #243 Wild Card

Welcome to this week's Just Us Girls Challenge

Hi!  Sharyn here and I'm your hostess this week for a fun Wild Card Challenge.  This week I've chosen to do a technique using Shaving Cream to make my own background paper.  I'm adding a link for a quick video to help you get started.

Here's my card

To do this technique you will need some reinkers, foamy shaving cream (not gel), a paper plate, paper towels, a knife, and a straight edge like a ruler.  You can do a very subtle background with 1 or 2 reinkers or go more elaborate with 4 or 5 or more reinkers. After I made my panel, I decided to do 3 more to put in reserve for other projects.

I made my panel using Gina K. Designs Ocean Mist, Turquoise Sea & Blue Raspberry reinkers.  I love this swirly pattern and it reminded me of water.  I thought it would be great with this cute stamp set from The Cat's Pajamas called Rise & Shine.  I paper pieced the bunny's boots and umbrella, added an embossed piece and some twine and a button.

Please visit the Just Us Girls page to see what the rest of the talented team and our GD, Barbara, have come up with using the Shaving Cream technique.  I hope you will be inspired to create something beautiful!  We would love to see it!

Welcome, Barbara!
Now let's take a look at Cheryl's fun sketch.

This sketch was a quick and easy one to work with.  I used a really fun stamp set by The Cat's Pajamas called Flying By, and paired it with some beautiful patterned paper by Simple Stories called Summer Fresh.  I love the plaids and the polka dots!

Seize the Birthday - No Toppings

Welcome to a Seize the Birthday Challenge

This time at Seize the Birthday it is "Anything Goes" as long as it's for a birthday.  There are no toppings.  I just bought some really cute stamp sets from The Cat's Pajamas, and this is one of them.  It's called Hang in there, baby!  This little sock monkey brought back so many memories.  I love him floating away holding onto a balloon!  I used the Let Your Dreams Soar sentiment on the front, and a Gina K. Designs Happy Birthday sentiment from Signs of Spring on the inside.  I would, also, like to give a big shout out to Jodene because today is her birthday!  Happy Birthday, Jodene!  I hope you have a fun day!
