Just Us Girls #266 - Trend Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Trend Week.  Chris is our hostess and she has picked the trend of Chalkboard.  Here is a link to a video at Make It Monday on this technique.  My card was very simple because I happened to have a stamp set made especially for this look, but you can create something similar using the stamps you have on hand.

Here's my card

The stamp set I used is called Poster Board Sentiments, and is available at Gina K. Designs.  I decided to make my chalkboard brown because it looked better with the colors I had planned to use. When I was in school all of the chalkboards were black, but today with the many different colors of chalkboard paint available, they come in all colors.  So have fun with it!  I put my chalkboard sentiment on a cute little tag and added some dash lines around the edge.  With the addition of some ribbon, a button and some enamel dots, the tag was complete.  The patterned paper I chose was some from my stash.  I know it came in a 12 x 12 pack, but the cover was torn off a long time ago, and I don't remember the name on it.  Thanks so much for coming by to look!

The Recipe:

Gina K. Designs Poster Board Sentiments
Reverse Confetti Tag Me Too
Spellbinders Tags & Flags
MME enamel dots
GKD Dark Chocolate & Mixed Berries buttons
Offray gingham ribbon
Patterned Paper from my stash
Doodlebug twine

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our GD, Tajanna, have created this week using the Chalkboard Effect.  I can't wait to see how you are inspired!

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our November challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of January.  Good luck!

  1. What a fantastic card, Sharyn! Great idea to use brown instead of black as your background - totally goes better with the cute papers you used!

  3. That is such a clever and cute tag. I love tags on cards, and I agree, the brown is a nice added touch. It goes so well with the papers and I like the added dash lines.
