Back to School

I pulled out some product from PTI
that I bought last year and never used.
I decided to make some Back to School cards
for my grandchildren.

I love the apples and the pencils and,
of course, the gingham!
The inside sentiment says,
the influence
of a good
teacher
can never be
erased.
Isn't that great!

Is everyone else as messy as I am?
This is my work desk while making these two cards.
It's a wonder I get anything done.
Guess it's time to clean!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My Country Garden Gate

I bought the Garden Gate by PTI when it first came out.  I thought it was the most beautiful stamp set I had ever seen.  However, I have not done much with it.  I had an idea to make it really country and girly, hence all of the pink and check out the gingham doors.

I made the gingham with the Super Gingham stamp set and some Sweet Blush ink.  I decided to use all of the flowers, so there is Wisteria, Bleeding Heart and Hollyhocks.  Don't you love the old timey flowers?

PTI 2018 May Blog Hop Inspiration

The 2018 May Blog Hop Inspiration photo at PTI is fabulous!  My mind was racing with ideas.

Here's my card

If you don't know it, I am a gingham girl, so I had to play off of the black and white gingham tablecloths.  I also wanted to use the red, pink and purple flowers and chose the new Seasonal Borders Summer set for that.  Another hit of black and white with the Shape Shifters Circle 1 die and I added some pink rays to help break up the white border using the Sunburst stencils.

Thanks so much for stopping by to look.  Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Just a Note

I had some time to play today and decided to pull out some of my Gina K. Designs stamps.  I've been wanting to make some note cards, so I thought I would start making them using the Stately Flowers series by Melanie Muenchinger.

The flower I chose is the Indian Paintbrush.  It is the Wyoming state flower.  I have never seen one before, so I did a google search and found a picture of one.  I started with two shades of green and worked on the stem and the base of the petals.  Next came a layer of cream and then the orange on the tips of the petals.  I would love to see a field of these beautiful flowers.....how amazing that would be!

PTI April 2018 Blog Hop Inspiration

The Papertrey Ink April 2018 Blog Hop Inspiration Challenge has a wonderful photo to inspire us.  Take a look!

Of all the stamps that I own, I don't have one set with tea cups.  So, my inspiration is coming through color.  Here's my card.

I used the Center Stage Cover Plate die and made a stencil and sponged Aqua Mist ink on a piece of white card stock..  I layered it on a piece of foiled gold paper to look like the trim on the tea cups.  I created a wreath to showcase the pretty little pink and yellow flowers and green leaves.  I layered this on a piece of gold foil paper too.  I added a bright pink ribbon and bow, the Hello sentiment and three aqua enamel dots.

Grown with Love

The sets I'm using today are called Garden Variety and Garden Variety II.  They are older sets that caught my eye.

I love the fun seed packet and the pretty hydrangea in a pot.  I used a stamp set called Brushed Off to add the darker color on the pot.  The background was done with the Background Basics Gingham set.  I used white card stock and stamped the gingham in black and then sponged GKD Wild Wisteria ink to give it that gorgeous color.  The white panel is from the Mix & Mat Herringbone die set.

Thinking of You

Another day of gray, gloomy skies and rain, rain, rain.  We have a small lake in our backyard.  So, I shut myself up in my craft room and played.  Here's what I made:

I love country looking wreaths.  I tried to make one here.  I'm happy with the way it came out..  Add to that some gingham, polka dots and hearts and I'm in heaven.  Spring Moss is definitely one of my favorite colors!

Take a look at the fabulous photo that is our inspiration.

I was so excited when I saw this photo.  I had just purchased the Nesting stamp set and it is perfect for this challenge.  Here is my card:

The Nesting stamp set is such a fun set, and I'm really excited that I have a new way in which to use the beautiful nest.  The new Simple Stems stamp set is perfect for the florals in the nest.  I used shades of pink and yellow to showcase them.

2018 Anniversary Mixed Bouquet

I decided to make this card after I read Melissa Phillips tips on Second Generation Stamping.  I used to stamp off a long time ago, and I don't know why I stopped.

I agree with Melissa that you expand your colors just by stamping off.  Each of the two-step flowers and leaves is stamped with one color of ink.  The bottom layer is stamped off and the top layer is the pure color.  I really love the way they look.  The flower set is the new 2018 Anniversary Mixed Bouquet set.  The jar was die cut once in white and once in Vellum.  I colored the backside of the Vellum in Copics BG10 & BG11.....hoping to make it look like water.  I added a pretty little gingham collar to the jar using Tropical Teal ink that had been stamped off.  The background was done with the Super Gingham set.

Happy Easter Lilies

This is a new stamp set from PTI called Lilies of the Field.
Isn't it beautiful!

I stamped the lilies with Lilac Grace, Raspberry Fizz and Lemon Tart for the centers.  The stems were stamped with Green Parakeet.  The gorgeous pot is from the Bloom & Grow set.  It works perfectly with these flowers.  I added some Lilac Grace gingham and a Raspberry Fizz scalloped die cut.  The Happy Easter sentiment will go on the inside of the card.

Life is What You Bake It

I love this old fashioned stand mixer.  Years ago, I bought a Kitchen Aid stand mixer.  It has served me well and came with several attachments...it does everything. The problem is I bought boring white.  Now you can get them in every color under the sun.

I love it in the lime green color.  My husband told me to go and buy a new one, but I can't justify buying a new one when the old one is still working.  The stamp set is a new one from PTI called Life is What You Bake It.  It comes with these wonderful stacking bowls....aren't they cute!  The background is my go to gingham in yellow.  I thought it fit in very well for this vintage kitchen.

With Sympathy

We used to have some beautiful Morning Glories growing up our fence in the backyard.  They were a soft blue in color and very pretty.  This stamp set reminded me of them.

I used a smooshing technique and some ink is shades of pink for the background.  I added a picket fence for the flowers to climb on and the beautiful blue morning glories.  The soft blue gingham borders are from the Super Gingham set.

Merry Christmas Poinsettia

I am a Poinsettia nut, I admit it.  They are my favorite winter flower and a must for every Christmas. My sweet husband buys me one every year.  This Poinsettia is from Gina K. Designs.  Isn't it beautiful!

This gorgeous stamp is a multi stamp process.  There is a solid layer, two accent layers and the outline.  I used all four of them here.  I love the shading effect.  For the background, I used a Gingham Stencil from Simon Says Stamps and some Deco Foil Transfer Gel.  The gold foil is from Heidi Swapp.  I added some yellow Stickles for the flower center.

Just Us Girls #299 - Photo Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Photo Week.  Maria is our hostess and she has chosen a fun photo for our inspiration.

This is the last week that we have Ros Crawford with us as our Guest Designer.  I would like to thank her for sharing her wonderful talent with us.

Here's my card

Isn't this a fun summer photo!  I was thrilled to be able to use my cute little watermelon stamp, and since it's supposed to be 90 degrees today, a cold piece of watermelon seemed like a good idea.  This makes me happy!

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our GD, Ros Crawford, have made this week.  I hope you will be inspired and come play along.

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our June challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Chic of the Week for the month of August.  Good luck!

Seize the Birthday - Make Your Own Background

This time at Seize the Birthday our topping is Make Your Own Background.  Of course, it's always "Anything Goes" if you don't want to do the topping, as long as it's for a birthday.  So put on your thinking caps.....can't wait to see what everyone creates.

Making my own background is one of my favorite things to do and my second favorite thing is gingham.  I bought two fun sets at PTI called Super Gingham and Chicken Scratch.  I love the beautiful design it made for my background.  The flowers are from two sets called Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2.  The greeting was embossed with Liquid Platinum on Vellum.

Please visit the Seize the Birthday blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team have made.  I hope you will be inspired and want to play along.
