Happy Birthday to You

I had some time to play today,
so I pulled out a sweet set from Gina K. Designs called BoHo Flowers.
I've had this set for quite awhile and it's about time it got inky.

I started by taking a piece of white card stock
and with Bubblegum and Wild Wisteria ink
I used the smooshing technique to make the paper
I needed for my flowers and butterfly.
I used the Petite Flourish stamp to make the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Thinking of You

This is one of the new sets from the PTI March release.
Isn't this butterfly beautiful!

The stamp set is called Butterfly Blooms.  It comes with the butterfly image and some sweet flower images.  I used the flowers to make the background paper.  The panel the butterfly is sitting on is another new set from the March release called Stitch in Time Borders.  I made the splatters on the butterfly wings with Stampendous Shabby Green Enamel Embossing Powder.

Thanks so much for stopping by to look.  Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Just Us Girls #342 - Word Week

This time at Just Us Girls it's Word Week!  I am your hostess this week, and I have chosen the word Butterfly as our inspiration.  Finally the weather is beginning to warm in my area, and the flowers are starting to bloom.  The butterflies won't be far behind.  Have fun with the challenge....can't wait to see what you come up with.

We are welcoming our new Guest Designer, Aileen Ryan, for the month of May. Welcome, Aileen! We are so happy to have you with us.  Please visit her blog and leave some love!

I picked the wonderful Enclosed Butterfly set from PTI and used my Minc Mini to apply foil to the butterfly edges and my "birthday" sentiment.  I don't know why in photos the foil always seems to show a shadow, but it is gorgeous in person.  For the inside of the butterfly, I applied a sticky embossing powder and some Martha Stewart glitter...love the sparkle!  On the white panel I stamped a flourish of flowers for the butterfly to hover over.  The fun patterned paper is from Doodlebug.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the gorgeous cards the rest of the team and our GD, Aileen, have made this week.  I hope you will be inspired and come play along with us.

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our May challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of July.  Good luck!

Just Us Girls #258 - Trend Week

This week at Just Us Girls is Trend Week.  Vicki is hosting and she has chosen the trend of watercolor.  I missed the watercolor online class when it first came out, but recently I  took it as an independent class.  I haven't done a lot with it yet, so I was very happy when Vicki picked it for our challenge, and I was able to put my skills to good use.  Here's my watercolor butterfly.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and wet it with a brush.  I knew I wanted to make it into a butterfly, so I started in the center with shades of turquoise and then worked my way out with shades of orange, melon & yellow.  When it was dry, I used the Memory Box Delia die to cut the solid butterfly.  I decided I wanted some texture, so I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Shower Blossom.  I gave it a spritz with some Tsukineko Sheer Shimmer Sparkle.  It's very had to see in the picture, but it has a subtle sparkle in person.  I used the Memory Box Finn die to make the black over butterfly and attached it with pop dots at the butterfly's body.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Mountain Meadow for the background.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the gorgeous cards the rest of the team and our GD, Barbara Hagen, have made this week.  I hope you will be inspired and want to play along.  We would love to see your beautiful watercolor creations.  We, also, have a DT Call out for a new designer.  All the details are on the blog.  I hope you will come by and take a look!

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our September challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of November.  Good luck!
