Thank You

Last week was an interesting week.
I had oral surgery.
If you had told me that at sixty-six years of age
I would have to have my wisdom teeth out,
I would have said you were crazy.
You're probably thinking I can't believe at sixty-six years of age
she still has wisdom teeth.  lol

I also had two bony tumors called Tori
in the space under my tongue.
That surgery required me to be put to sleep.
Everything was done and all is well.

This card is for my oral surgeon and his staff.
They were wonderful!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Thank you

I watched a video by Arjito Sepaha Singh on no line coloring using colored pencils. Click on her name for a link to her blog.  She is AMAZING!  She makes everything look so easy.  I worked for over an hour trying to do this technique and guess what?  I can't do it.  I've come to the conclusion that I should only buy stamps that are one or two step stamping.

I pulled out the Layered Daisies stamp set from Gina K. Designs, (It's a two step process) and some of the new colors from the most recent release.  I used Barely There for the card base.  The big daisy was stamped first with Barely There and then by Peach Bellini.  The center is Chocolate Truffle.  The second daisy was stamped with Peach Bellini and then Tomato Soup.  The third daisy was stamped second generation stamping with Peach Bellini and then Tomato Soup.  I, also, did some second generation stamping using Fresh Asparagus and the leaves.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Just Us Girls #324 - Word Week

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  This time at Just Us Girls it's Word Week.  Nancy is our hostess and she has chosen the words Thank You.  Very appropriate for all of the thank you cards you will be needing after the holidays.

We have two Guest Designers with us this month.  I'd like to welcome Deepti Malik and Vicki Parsons.  Please visit their blogs and leave them some love.

I played around with a fun technique called the Marble Technique for my background.  I used the clear plastic case from one of my Gina K. Designs Stamp TV kits.  This works great because you can see through it and it has a lid.  I attached a piece of white card stock with some re-positional tape to the bottom and dropped different colors of reinker around the paper.  Now the technique calls for marbles, but you can use other things.  In my case, I didn't have any marbles, but my husband has a gumball machine.  I have raided his gumball machine before for this technique and it works quite well.  So, I put my gumballs in the container, closed the lid and began to shake it until I was satisfied with the look.  I used some dies from Reverse Confetti to finish it off and added some Doodlebug Sprinkles.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our Guest Designers, Deepti and Vicki, have made this week.  I hope you will be inspired and play along.

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our January challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of March.  Good luck!

Just Us Girls #254 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week, and Sue V. has chosen lime, navy and neutrals.  I really like this combo.  It is very refreshing!

I decided to pull out a Gina K. Designs  frame set called Fun Year Round to make a quick thank you card. I paired it with some patterned paper from the GKD Journey of the Heart paper pack.  I love to paper piece and decided to paper piece four of the circles.  The other circles were filled in with stamps from the same set.  I added some We R Memory Keepers twine and two GKD In the Navy buttons.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our Guest Designer, Kristie Goulet, have created this week.  I hope you will be inspired and play along with us.  We would love to see how you are inspired by this fun color combo.

If you win Chic of the Week for any of our August challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of October.

Make It Monday #176 - Backgrounds with Embossing Paste

The card that Laura made over at Make It Monday this week was so pretty that I just had to try this technique.  Here's my card:

I love, love, love this color combo.  I used Dap Fast'N Final Lightweight Spackling instead of embossing paste.  It mixed very well with reinkers to create these beautiful colors.  The gingham stencil I used is from Simon Says Stamps.  The Rosie Posie & Rosie Posie Step 2 stamp sets are my new favorite flower stamps from Papertrey Ink.  I love the look of the two-step stamping.  Thanks so much for coming by to look!

Saying goodbye to my doctor

This is a sad post for me because my doctor is retiring at the end of August.  We started going to him when I was around eleven years old.  So, in a span of 50 years he has seen me through births, deaths and a lot of life in-between.  He is really going to be missed!  When I was trying to figure out what kind of card to make for him, the first thing that came to mind was one of Theresa Momber's beautiful ocean scenes.  I loved this blue card the minute I saw it. The pier reminds me of several that we have walked to and on when we have gone to the beach.  This is a CASE of Theresa's beautiful card using her By the Sea 2 stamp set.  The "happy retirement" is from Rupa Shevde's Enjoy the Journey stamp set.  Both sets are available at Gina K. Designs.

The next two cards are for my doctor's nurses.  They will be equally missed.
