PTI Anniversary Color Challenge

Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 11th Anniversary and that means many fun challenges.  The one I'm entering today is a Color Challenge.

The Color Recipe I chose belongs to Laurie Schmidlin.
 Here are her colors:

When I saw the green in this selection, I knew I had to use the beautiful Bloom & Grow stamp set.  The next thing that concerned me was the shading on the flowers, but I stamped them again in the same color making a section of the flower darker and it turned out great.

Thanks so much for coming by to look.  Your kind comments are always appreciated.

Bountiful Blessings

Fall is my very favorite time of the year, and happily, I live in an area that gets to experience the changing of the seasons.  I love color and fall bursts forth with glorious color.

I bought the PTI Color Pop Autumn set when it first came out, and I think I have only made one card with it.  So, I pulled it out and started to play.  The leaves, berries and all of the little elements are so much fun.  Do you see the little acorn?

Just Us Girls #273 - Photo Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Photo Week.  Nancy is our hostess and she has chosen a fun photo for our inspiration.  Here's how I was inspired.

When I saw this picture with all of the fabulous circles, all I could think about doing was the Bokeh Effect technique.  I love how the white circles soften the base colors.  To create the background I used Hero Arts Soft Granite & Fresh Peach. The white circles were made by using Brilliance Moonlight White.  The thanks script is from Mama Elephant.  I cut four of them and glued them together to add some interest.  The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and Verve.  Thanks so much for coming by to look!

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our GD, Lee Ann, have made this week.  I hope you will be inspired and want to play along.

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our December challenges, you will be in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of February.  Good luck!

Just Us Girls #267 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week.  Sharyn, here,  I am your hostess, and the colors I have chosen are Red, Turquoise and Gold or yellow.  You can, also, use neutrals such as, white, black, kraft,  ivory, brown or gray.

Here's my card

When I was young, my parents,  my brother and I used to go ice skating.  We used to go to a place in Indianapolis called Lake Sullivan.  In the Winter, after the lake froze,  it was transformed into a beautiful ice skating rink.  There were hills for sledding too.  We had a slide-in camper that fit in the back of my dad's truck that we took with us.  It was a warm place to get out of the cold, and we were able to make hot chocolate......such good memories!

The stamp set I used is called On Ice and is available at Papertrey Ink.  The background stencil is from Tim Holtz and is called Holiday Knit.  I saw it a few weeks ago on a Kristina Werner video, and thought it was so cute.  It was perfect for my Winter themed card.  I used Dap Lightweight Spackle and some GKD turquoise sea ink to create my background.  I used some black embroidery thread to lace the skates and added some pom poms.  The sentiment was embossed with gold embossing powder on Vellum.  Thanks for coming by to look!

The Recipe:

PTI On Ice
Tim Holtz Holiday Knit Stencil
Dap Lightweight Spackle
GKD Turquoise Sea ink

Just Us Girls #263 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week, and Lisa has picked a really fun color combo for us, Purple, Olive and Navy.  Here is how I was inspired!

I watched a video of Jennifer McGuire's on No Mess Glitter Die Cuts and fell in love with this die set from My Favorite Things called Geek is Chic.  I didn't add glitter to mine because I didn't have the double sided tape that she used, but here is what I did.  I first cut one pair of glasses out of white card stock.  I inked the bottom half of the glasses with navy ink and the top with purple ink.  I then cut four pairs of glasses from navy and purple card stock and glued them together.  I glued the inked pair to the top and then coated it with Glossy Accents.  After it dried, I applied another coat of Glossy Accents. These glasses are so stinking cute and shiny.  You would never know they were made of paper.  I just realized as I'm writing this post that while the green is supposed to be olive, I had in my mind lime, so my green is a little on the light side.  I black embossed the sentiment onto Vellum.

The Recipe:
My Favorite Things Geek is Chic
Spellbinders Standard Circles and Scalloped Circles
Cuttlebug Spots and Dots
GKD Wild Lilac, Navy & Black Onyx CS

Just Us Girls #259 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week and Nancy has chosen a beautiful combo for us to work with.  The colors are warm pink, light pink & ivory.  I had lots of crafting time today.  We had some plumbing problems that resulted in us needing a new sewer line.  My craft room faces the front of the house, so I had a clear view of the front yard and could watch all of the action.  As I'm sitting there crafting my little heart out to get a head in a couple of challenges, I see a spray of water coming out of the huge hole in the ground.......yep, they punctured the water line.  Guess we are getting a new water line too.  lol  I just had to laugh.  What else can go wrong?  Anyway, here's my card.

I used the Pretty Patterns stamp set from Gina K. Designs to make the background, along with Memento Angel Pink & GKD Bubblegum inks.  The card base is GKD Ivory card stock.  I made a little tag that I sponged with Angel Pink ink and decorated with a little heart border.  I added a pink ribbon, button and a couple of crimped hearts.

Recipe:
GKD Pretty Patterns, Signs of Spring & Spoon Me stamp sets
Reverse Confetti, Tag Me & Love Note dies
GKD Mixed Berry button
MME Enamel dots
Offray Pink ribbon

GKD Black Onyx & Bubblegum ink

Reverse Confetti Color Challenge

I love the color combo for the Reverse Confetti challenge and just had to play.  I'm fairly new to Reverse Confetti products and don't have very many, but when I saw the cute Flamingo set I knew I would have to buy it.  The sentiment "what makes you different makes you beautiful" seemed perfect for my little red flamingo.  As I'm looking at this card, I realize that not only does my sweet flamingo have a pigmentation problem, but her legs are on backwards.  lol  Oh well, too late to change it now.  I hope no one will notice!

Just Us Girls #254 - Color Week

This week at Just Us Girls it's Color Week, and Sue V. has chosen lime, navy and neutrals.  I really like this combo.  It is very refreshing!

I decided to pull out a Gina K. Designs  frame set called Fun Year Round to make a quick thank you card. I paired it with some patterned paper from the GKD Journey of the Heart paper pack.  I love to paper piece and decided to paper piece four of the circles.  The other circles were filled in with stamps from the same set.  I added some We R Memory Keepers twine and two GKD In the Navy buttons.

Please visit the Just Us Girls blog to see the beautiful cards the rest of the team and our Guest Designer, Kristie Goulet, have created this week.  I hope you will be inspired and play along with us.  We would love to see how you are inspired by this fun color combo.

Just Us Girls # 250 - Color

This week at Just Us Girls we have a Color Challenge.  Vicki is hosting, and she has chosen turquoise, green & lime as our challenge colors.  Isn't that a fun and interesting combo!

I used a fun set from Gina K. Designs called Bring the Bling.  I love the look of these dotted flowers and swirls all done up in the challenge colors.  I used a Martha Stewart Cherish border punch to make the lime and green border pieces.  The two tags were made with a Paper Smoochies Tag Stitched die in Pure Luxury White and Turquoise Sea card stock.  The white tag was sponged with Turquoise Sea ink from GKD and Pear Tart from Memento.  The sentiment is from the GKD Flower Builders stamp set.  I added some MME enamel dots and a GKD white ribbon.

We are being sponsored this week, in honor of our 250th Challenge, by Dare 2B Artzy! The Chic of the Week will get their choice of a stamp set valued at $14.99 or under. Thanks so much to Dare 2B Artzy!

Just Us Girls #246 - Color

This week's Just Us Girls challenge is hosted by Maria.  She has chosen a color challenge using yellow, orange and neutral.

After thinking about this color combo for a while, I remembered a fruity stamp set by Gina K. Designs called You're the Sweetest.  I decided to make a background of lemon and orange slices.  I used a Spellbinders A2 Curved Border One die to make the curvy border at the bottom and attached it to a piece of The Paper Studios gingham paper.  I added a bright orange ribbon, a button & some twine to pull it all together.  I love it.  It's bright, clean, happy and a little sweet!  Hope you like it too!
